Slab Foundation Repair
During the intial inspection, our experienced techs will look for signs of foundation settlement. VC will also conduct a elevation floor survey- this allows us to record the amount of settlement your home has endured during the season. Once we get these elevations we can determine the best pier solution. Currently, VC Foundation offers two diffrent pier elavation correction systems: Concrete Pressed Pilling Piers and Drilled Piers. To find out which Pier system will work best for your Slab Foundation Call VC Foundation Repair Today!
Concrete Pressed Pilling System Or Push Pressure Pier
Push Pressure Piers are a great pier solution for Slab Repair as they offer support and stability to your foundation at an affordable price and a quick turnaround often being completed in about 2-3 days.
These piers are installed by first locating the beam and then using a hydraulic jack that pushes concrete cylinders in to the ground. Once the point of refusal is reached, the pier is capped with a concrete cap, followed by two more concrete cylinders and metal shims.
Drilled Pier
- Drilled Piers are an excellent choice when support is really needed on homes that don't weigh a lot or that have concrete that has exceeded its life span of approximately 30 years. Drilled Piers are hand-made piers that are made on site. The pier installation is of at least 5-10 days, depending on how many your home needs. Pier drilling is used in foundation work when there is:
- A weak on unstable upper soil layer.
- presence of horizontal forces against the foundation.
- Presence of expansive soils.
- Presence of uplifting forces in the soil.
- Serious soil erosion.
First a hole of approx. 2'x2' is dug under the beam of the home and later an auger is inserted drilling a hole of approx. 8' deep and 8" diameter. The pier is reinforced with rebar and fresh concrete is poured in to the pier. There is a curing time of at least 24-48 hrs. to ensure the concrete is fully cured. Once that is complete, VC will adjust the home with metal shims and the pier is complete.
Drilled piers offer superior load bearing capacity and stability compared to other foundation repair systems and can be installed in a wide range of soil types and conditions. The installation process is relatively fast and efficient and can be completed with minimal disruption to surrounding areas.
